Natural Hair Spray

A simple DIY hairspray using natural ingredients .So easy to make and works great , its also less expensive and much healthier for hair .Switching to homemade hair spray is a much safer option, especially if you are working on getting toxins out of your home.

Conventional hairspray is full of chemicals that you shouldn’t breathe in and most certainly not spray on your head. Hair sprays can cause irritation to the eyes, nose, throat, skin, and lungs with inhaled.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 cup water
  • 1.5 tablespoons white sugar .
  • 1 tablespoon high proof alcohol (I have used Vodka)
  • Glass bottle with atomizer
  • Optional essential oil ( few drops )
*Adjust the sugar up or down for more or less stiffness/hold (more sugar=stronger hold) but don’t add too much or hair will feel sticky. Brown sugar, coconut sugar, honey, and other natural sugars will not work in this recipe.
*If you don't want to use alcohol ,you can leave it out and just use a sugar .It just will not last as long . The hard proof alcohol and essential oils act as a natural preservative.

INSTRUCTIONS:
  • Bring the water to a boil over high heat and then add in the sugar.
  • Stir the sugar water until all the sugar is dissolved.
  • Remove the pot from the heat and allow it to cool.
  • Once cooled, add in the alcohol and essential oils.
  • Transfer to a glass spray bottle for storage.

Drinking water with Himalayan salt

2 months ago I heart that drinking water with Himalayan salt it is very good for our health. I was under the impression that salt was something to be avoided as much as possible. I was more curious how and why use Himalayan salt  and started research internet about this subject and this is information what I found out :

Himalayan salt is mined from ancient sea beds, so it is pure from modern environmental toxins. It provides a whopping 84 trace minerals. Pink salt has numerous benefits from helping the body detoxify to boosting energy to improving digestion to promoting healthy hair, skin, and balanced hormones .Additionally, the consumption of Himalayan salt water also helps in regulating hydration and also improves our digestion process , helps in preventing muscle cramps and help in lowering blood pressure. The minerals contained in the Himalayan salt water helps in strengthening the body. Such minerals are necessary in maintaining strong connective tissues and bones. They are also vital for proper blood circulation and muscle regeneration.

After all information I have read about how healthy it is drinking water with a Himalayan salt  I decided to drink it too - how ? I  put a pinch of salt into my glass of water. At the beginning it was hard for me to used to salty taste of water but now it is much better and don't taste any salt .

Are you going to give Himalayan pink salt a try?

How to use Lemons to clean Your home

Having Lemon at home is very useful, in addition to the taste and being healthy there great for cleaning. Scent of lemons are fresh and invigorating, also have antibacterial, antiseptic and bleaching properties. Lemons are a natural disinfectant and can remove stains due to their acidity levels.
Cost effective healthy way to have a clean house without the use of chemicals. My favourite way of cleaning.

  1. Microwave cleaning: Place one cup of lemon juice or lemon slices  in a bowl and microwave on high for about 5 minutes. Afterwards, stains and dried food should be easy to wipe away.
  2. Deodorize refrigerator : Simply leave half a lemon inside, this will allow the lemon to over power and absorb different smells.
  3. Lemon use to scrub: dishes, surfaces, and stains: Apply lemon juice to stains. For fabrics, rub, let it sit until the stain is gone and then wash in washing machine as you normally do.
  4. Stains resulting from tea/coffee and other drinks use in the cups and glasses: Rub a slice of lemon or squeeze lemon juice on a sponge, apply on site.
  5. Kitchen sink: A few slices of lemon placed in  sink drain, pour hot water and leave for a few minutes, clean the drain with an old disused toothbrush, rinse again and we end up with a fragrant, refreshed sink.
  6. Create your own furniture polish: Combine 2 tablespoons of lemon juice, 10 drops of lemon essential oil, ½ cup olive oil and mix well. Decant mixture to a spray bottle. Use the fine mist setting on the bottle and spray evenly on furniture. Wipe clean with a soft cloth.
  7. Refresh/Clean cutting boards: To remove tough stains and odours from chopping board, Use half a lemon, rub the entire board, Leave standing for approximately 15 minutes then rinse and wipe dry. Creating a fresh cutting board and naturally cleaned.
  8. Caring for wood: Combine a glass of lemon juice and olive oil, equal amounts and decant into a spray bottle. Spray on wood surfaces and wipe with a soft cloth.
  9. Clean Copper, Brass: Sprinkle a generous amount of sea salt on a lemon cut in half. Use this as a scouring pad to polish faded copper, brass.
  10. Clean Shower Doors: Cut a lemon in half and apply evenly over your glass shower doors to remove scale and build-up. If you prefer, you can also use lemon juice directly on a sponge and apply same way.

Please see below the benefits illustrated below: ( found on the internet)

By using the above practises, you will save money in the long run against purchasing products from stores, Also do your bit for the environment.

I hope the above tips serve you well, happy cleaning :)

Eco friendly cleaning products

Before giving birth to my daughter 3.5 years ago I didn't know much about nutrition, exercise or healthy lifestyle . For example I have never bothered with which dish soap, all purpose cleaning supplies or laundry detergent I was used. I just grabbed any product from shop shelves without knowing that some of these products are not good for your health, they can be packed with many chemical ingredients and dangerous for your health. My attitude towards healthy lifestyle changed after giving birth to my daughter. I started to be more interested in healthy lifestyle, eating healthy food, reading more about nutrition benefits but also started be more interested in cleaning products as well. I wanted to investigate what kind of products I am using to clean my home and if they are safe for mine and my families health.
One of my favourite cleaning products which I used to purchase in United Kingdom and now in USA is  from a brand called Method. What I like is fact that they are using naturally derived ingredients with no lingering smells, or chemicals and best of all, it's eco friendly. Ingredients in their formulas, the packaging is also not excluded in their thought process. They are also assessed and scored by the Environmental Protection and Encouragement Agency. Method`s bottles are made from 100% recycled plastic. It's easy to refill original bottle (saving money). The bag has a roller bar so you can squeeze out the last drop which may not be possible with other manufactures..
I purchased my Method products from Target Shop. So accessibility is not an issue.

I am also trialling a new product Green Works, seems to tick all the boxes for now.

Was purchased TJMAXX, primarily for my daughter.

Another tip is using vinegar and baking soda for cleaning. This solution is very cheap and easy to produce at home .

To make your own bottle of cleaning products, I use one glass of vinegar,  two part water, add few drops of 100% pure essential oil ( it can be lavender, mint, rose or orange and others) mix product thoroughly and pour into bottle dispenser, creating a cleaning product without chemicals.

What do you recommend? are you Eco - friendly?
Is this important for you ?
