Hummus - Why should we eat it

You have no idea how healthy hummus is as a snack?

The word hummus is the Arabic for chickpeas, consists of chickpeas, garlic, tahini (sesame paste), olive oil lemon juice and spices. Can easily be made at home, but also widely available in stores.

Chickpeas is the main ingredient of hummus and rich in protein therefore popular with vegans or vegetarians for whom can be main source of protein in a balanced, meatless diet. Contains phosphorus, potassium, most of the B vitamins attributes such as, iron and fiber .Chickpeas has positive effects on the condition of our hair, nails and skin, also lowers cholesterol and strengthens the immune system.

Tahini or sesame paste consisting of sesame oil is also a source of protein, vitamins A, E, B vitamins, magnesium, potassium, calcium, iron, zinc, phosphorus, and high in amino acid content, good for the digestive system.

Although ready-made paste of chickpeas can be purchased in many health food stores or supermarkets, you should try and make you own. Preparing home hummus is quick  easy.

I serve hummus with vegetables such as: carrot, celery, parsley, cucumber, also makes a great filling for sandwiches.

Bon Appetit:-)
